Snobama Day

Happy Inauguration Day!

I flew through snow clouds late last night to get home in time for us to have an inauguration party at the house today. Alas, the snow clouds dropped actual snow so our party guests ended up staying safely in their own homes. It was sad not to get to celebrate with our friends, but we tried to look at the bright side: more Inauguration Cookie (pictured above) for us! Also, Donna's teacher work day was canceled. She got to be home with us to watch Barack Obama become the President. I loved his speech and look forward to hope and integrity, hard work and inclusion replacing the fear and division and culture of entitlement that has reigned for too long. We'll see.

As we celebrated inside the hounds celebrated outside:

Donna smacked Tallulah with a snowball. (I'm pretty proud of myself for catching that on film!) Tallulah jumped around and barked excitedly. She LOVES the snow. She and Wasabi raced and chased for well over an hour this morning. Wasabi came in with snow encrusted fur leggings. Here is Tallulah taking a snowball from Donna:
Tallulah dropped her snowball in the snow and then dug for it. In the process of digging for it, of course, it disintegrated. She kept digging. And digging. And digging. She looked up and around and then went back to digging because she was sure it was RIGHT THERE. It was pretty cute.

I didn't get a picture of Wasabi scampering because he was too fast, but I did get this one of him waiting to come in the house. His look says, "I'm cold now. Can I come in and have some hot chocolate?":
We're not quite sure what to do with 3" to 6" of snow. It definitely means training inside today. I'm going to join Donna in her torture set (some weird combo of six bodyweight exercises which sound and look waaaay easier than they are) and of course we have push ups to do. Must work off that cookie somehow!

On a final note - please send any spare good thoughts and luck our way. We're waiting to hear (today or tomorrow) whether John's company is going to fold or not. February could possibly really (REALLY) suck. That's my day today - incredible hope, extreme stress, and some joyful everyday moments in between. Peace.

My dogs tend to go crazy when they get anywhere near snow

my dog likes snow too, he just doesn't get to experience it very often. we used to have a dog that did just what Tallulah did with snowballs. It always cracked me up.

Best wishes for John to stay employed. These are tough times all around.

Good luck to John. Feb is going to be tough for a lot of folks, but it will get better soon!

i loved the speech. it was so nice to listen to the president speak and not want to bitch slap him afterwards. that hasn't happened in a long long time.

that first pic of the dog is great! my father-in-law emailed a few pics of his yard (also in raleigh) and it looked like you guys got a bunch of snow dumped on you. enjoy it!

Thanks for taking the time and commenting! Nice to meet you. So really, you don't think the Zone diet is too hard? Do you spend a lot of time weighing things? (That's the complaint from everyone I talk to about it.)

Your dogs are gorgeous!

So, what's your pushup challenge?
