I'm Better Now

Thanks for the kind comments from yesterday. Today is way mo' better.

First, here is a picture for my buddy Running Knitter who (unlike me) manages to balance training and knitting. Now that I am no longer working in our knit shop (<-hard to do from NC!), I've become one of those foul weather knitters who knit only when they're trapped in the house! This baby sweater is the most recent bit o'knit I've finished (and I still have to put in the zipper). It was a pleasure to work on. Soothing. Gotta love addi's and cotton classic!

In training related news - I had a KICK ASS swim today. I was swimming 2:10 100's but really felt like I could have been doing 2 minute or even 1:55's!! My shoulders were strong, I was digging into the water, my breathing was perfectly smooth and I wanted to keep going even after the prescribed yardage. I'm not a hugely competitive person in the sense that I don't get bent out of shape (or usually notice) when people pass me and I'm not often motivated by the idea of passing someone else. However, I couldn't help but notice that the gal in the lane next to me was going full out - spinning her arms, kicking hard - when I passed her taking one stroke for every two or more of hers. That made me feel like I was being really efficient in the water today! Then I was out of the pool and home by 6:15 which makes me feel so accomplished. I've got my workout in before most folks are even up and moving! Now all I have to do is keep zinging along and get in my yesterday's missed bike.

I'll post my race report for the Franklin 5000 after I get a bit of work done around here and then finish it up. In the meantime, if you haven't already seen them, here are some a buttload of great race reports from the weekend: Willie's (AKA Speedy Gonzales') Marathon; Shirley's 45th marathon (of which 35 are in different states - she has 15 to go!); Southbay, Maryland, and Valley Girls' Half Marathon in NashVegas, Stef's 10K (in the other Vegas), RBR's 20 Miler from Hell, Robyn's take on the Franklin 5000, and finally Pirate Girl's full and very interesting IMAZ report. **Robyn is a really cool, local triathlete whose focus on ending homelessness is inspiring. I haven't met her, but her blog is interesting and everything I've heard about her in the community is fantastic. You should totally check her out. :D**

There! That should keep y'all busy until I can do my chores and get back to blogging.
