A Mixed Bag

Swim:
I'm beginning to loathe the word "descend".
And in what world does 3x200, 2x200, 3x150, 4x100, and 4x50 add up to 1750?? I want to talk to the person who wrote these swim workouts. And his grade school math teacher!!

Bike:
We bailed 8 miles into the first of three bricks that were scheduled for Sunday. It was rainy and windy. We got soaked through and battered. Then the temperature dropped 15 degrees. Then Donna had a flat. The weather got worse all day and yesterday the low was near freezing. In May. A week after I nearly had heatstroke in a 10K. My mental state about missing those bricks swings about as much as the weather. I waffle between thinking it was a smart move and feeling like a wimp.

Run:
We have a 6 mile run tomorrow, a Team Sakina trail run Thursday night, a 10 mile run scheduled for Friday, a Team Sakina long run on Saturday morning, and 6 miles (spread over two bricks) on Sunday. Ever heard the phrase, "Something's gotta give?" Yeah. I'm thinking it'll be the 10 miler on Friday. And possibly the Thursday night trail run too. I have the chance to go see a documentary about Meinrad Craighead which is hard to pass up!

Other:
On the plus side, my writing has been ON FIRE! I used every minute of my recovery day yesterday to write and had to force myself away from the page today in order to go swim. I've launched a new project, finished the outline on the current project, and gotten the better part of two chapters completely drafted. My newfound courage to show up on the page consistently is a direct result of honoring my training commitment and following my nutrition plan. I feel more solidly aligned than ever before. I love my life. And? Today is our daughter's birthday.

TODAY I LOVE: my Ninja Princessa - 14, I can't believe she's fourteen!

Yay, happy birthday...I hardly remember 14. Have a blast!

I totally understand, the weather here has been totally sketchy too.

Isn't funny how sometimes, the busier you are, more gets done? Everything just kind of aligns...

Sounds like you have some tough workouts! The weather has been crazy. How do you go from 90's to barely 70. Looks like we are suppose to have a nice weekend!

Yes! The word "descend" in your swim workout will trigger the "Flight or Fight" syndrome :-)

You uber new found committment is awesome! Keep up the good work!

(and happy birthday to your princess!)

Happy birthday Ninja Princessa!

Man, they just grow up too fast, don't they?

I keep telling Ian (who's now 9), "Slow down! Stop growing so fast!"

But does he listen?

Still, they're a wonder at every age, aren't they?

No wonder you love your life, sister!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! Yes it was quite chilly when I was in Keanansville on Monday. Odd for this time of year in NC. It is 75 lovely degress right now in MD. I hope this trend continues!
I find when I'm busy I am much more productive and can keep to a schedule. Now if I could some how fit house cleaning into it all....

Happy birthday to your kiddo!

I am sooo in awe of all you exercising Mom's! I feel like I can barely keep my life in balance and get my workouts in...I can't imagine life with kids.

Sometimes the best thing to do is bail on a workout when you aren't feelin it or the weather is bad. You're not a wimp! You'd be a wimp if you never started or if you skipped ALL the time.

Happy B-Day to the girl! Yes, descending is evil. Then again all swim workouts are evil.

Amazing how being consistent with training and food brings so much more to the table in the rest of your life. Amazing! And congratulations on all the writing you got done!

yes, descend is evil. why can't they just say, "GET FASTER"???

is your 1750 total question rhetorical? I hope?? anyway, good job. i'm really hoping to overcome my newfound abhorrence of swimming.

Your training is going great it sounds like! You still have lots of time. You don't want to get burned out before the big day either.
