First I must talk football: I am completely bummed (not to mention distressed, upset, and angry) that the Tennessee Titans lost to the Ravens, of all teams. Bleck. And while I'm not a much of a Panthers fan, they are the home team around here and they were embarrassingly routed by the Cardinals. (I have nothing against Arizona but I do hold a grudge against Kurt Warner. By all accounts he's a great guy - but he happened to be the quarterback who beat my Titans in the Superbowl back when he was with St. Louis and it's just GALLING to have to deal with a Titans loss and a Kurt Warner win in the same day.) Thank goodness the Eagles and the Steelers saved my weekend. Final football sadness is that there are only THREE games left. That's it. Then no more football until AUGUST. (The Pro-Bowl does not count as a game in my book.) I will probably get more cleaning, writing, and training done without football around but man, will I miss it!!
I have been working hard on my number one New Year's Resolution: Run faster, eat slower.* It is amazing how much concentration this takes. Digression: do you remember learning to water ski? Where you had to bend your knees and keep your arms straight? And how unnatural it felt? But how if you did it the other way around, as you were inclined to, you plowed face-first into the water? Yeah. Even with a snout full of catfish poo water as the price of failure to comply - it STILL took me an inordinately long time to learn to ski. With race PR's and dropping scale numbers being rewards somewhat less immediate than spectacular face plants, who knows how long it will take me to get the hang of "Run faster, eat slower." Still, sooner begun, sooner done, eh?
*For all you grammar nazis: you are right. It probably should read "Run faster, eat more slowly" ("slower" being an adjective and all) but I'm going to treat my new mantra like song lyrics where grammar gives way to scansion and "sounds better this way in my head."

Ha ha! I pay no attention to grammar on my blog and I LIKE your mantra . . . so there. :-)
Oh and I thought I had commented on your last post. In fact I did comment -- IN MY MIND. LOL.
I agree with whoever said that you and Donna look beautiful in her birthday picture and you guys really know how to have fun. And the cookies . . . I'm so glad the holidays are over and such sweet tempting things aren't all over the place anymore.
Happy Monday!
Good luck on the mantra. I should follow the same advice. Well, running faster is put on hold for awhile but I must learn to eat slower! I always overeat because I eat so fast that by the time I realize I am full, I am very full!! I blame it on many years of bartending and working in a salon where if you didn't eat fast, you didn't eat! Still, those days are long over. Sigh...
And thanks for bringing up water skiing memoires :-)
Good thing that's not MY mantra. I'm doing pretty well with eating more often, but not slower, and I'm definately not running faster. I do pretty well with it in reverse though, but that's probably not ANYBODY's goal. :-)
Huh... If I understand it, it's good grammar :-)
I think the mantra works as is!
And I'm very impressed that you know how to water ski. I'm no good at anything that involves sliding, water skiing, snow skiing, skating, skate boarding, etc.
I love the mantra- just sorry it was taken.
I gave up good grammar once I graduated HS
grammar shammar, that;s a great saying! wish i had that in my head when i inhaled my dinner tonight :(
