I'm on my way to the precinct to help set up for Election Day. Tomorrow starts (very) early and ends (too) late, but I'm excited to be an election official again. Please go vote tomorrow if you haven't already - no matter what the polls say about your candidate. We are so lucky to have the chance to participate in our government! I've long been a supporter of a mandatory service requirement - not necessarily military service, but some service to our country. If we all served our country, then our country would better represent all of us, and I believe we would better serve the world. A friend of mine who takes her vacation time to get out the vote and work on campaigns in battleground states sent me this pledge that Americorps volunteers take. I think it is beautiful! How powerful would it be if more people could say words like these and mean them! Peace. The AmeriCorps Pledge
I will get things done for America -
to make our people safer,
smarter, and healthier.
I will bring Americans together
to strengthen our communities.
Faced with apathy,
I will take action.
Faced with conflict,
I will seek common ground.
Faced with adversity,
I will persevere.
I will carry this commitment
with me this year and beyond.
I am an AmeriCorps member,
and I will get things done.

I too will be voting tomorrow!
turned in my ballot yesterday--yeehaw!
I tried early voting, but the lines were too long. I'll be heading out first thing in the morning to exercise my right. :-)
I am so glad I voted on Saturday. I am sure it will be crazy tomorrow.
I will be voting tomorrow!!!
Voted this morning! Got there at 6:45, finished by 7:25 - two kids in tow. And to the people in line this morning who complained about the lines - our response "Isn't it great that people are excercising their rights and priviledges to vote!"
I so want to vote today! It's a shame that they make it so damn difficult.
Calyx, thank you so much for supporting me on this journey to earn my Ironman. It really meant a lot to me. I still remember the first time you showed up on my radar!!! It is AWESOME to have you be a part of all this.
Hell Yes!!
I read this post in a rush last night without time to leave a comment. I voted this morning and thought about you as I chatted with all the super nice volunteers :)
Awesome! Thanks for volunteering. The people at my polling place were all awesome this morning, so nice!
Thank you for volunteering!
I was glad to vote early, with no waiting line
I am just watching out for Obama's victory speech now. Amazing what a great turnout we had.
Everyone together hell "HELL YES!" America got it right!!! and even if someone doesn't agree with the outcome - I am so proud that so many people actually went out and voted! Every election should be taken so seriously!
