Quickie From The Road

One thing about having family all over the place is that holidays tend to get elongated as you make the rounds celebrating. My 40th? Hasn't even officially happened yet and already I've been celebrating for a week. This is a picture of us (Donna, me, and John) from my birthday party with my dad's family.

Here we are loading the Jetta, trying to make sure we didn't forget anything. (Turns out I forgot to bring my knitting and my cd case. My mom fixed the knitting issue by promptly handing me the yarn for a Maggi Jackson Knits model she wants me to make for the shop. As for the music, Donna and I are just going to have to talk to each other for two weeks.)

I'm too tired to be particularly coherent or to fix Blogger's stupid formatting issues. But somewhere between Springfield, MO and Albuquerque, NM is the "World's Largest McDonald's". It spans the highway.
This is Madge. She's our totem wild woman. You've got to love a sassy, voluptuous mermaid! She dangled from the backseat passenger's window, admiring today's four states: MO, OK, TX, and finally, finally, finally NM. It was a very long day - topped off by the electricity going out in our hotel about 20 minutes after we managed to get everything up here and unloaded, including the bikes. Thankfully it was only off for about 45 minutes - but we're done!
Did manage to get a two mile run in this morning and we're going to bike a trail here in ABQ tomorrow. Then we head out for the Grand Canyon! More pictures to follow!

Oh - and this gem was still in the homestate. I have NO IDEA what this truck is all about but it tickled my funny bone.
