An Unexpected "Podium" Finish

Sunday - 95*, humid, 13 (14, 15+) min/mile - 208 bpm (stopped, took off HRM) - SUCKED!
Today - 75*, dry, 10:31 (11:34, 11:57 (<-cool down .5 mi)) min/mile pace - 170 bpm - ROCKED!

I had a FANTASTIC run! Two and a half miles averaging 11:02 - which is super speedy for me. (I'd sure love to be a 10 minute mile girl someday. You 7 minute milers - I worship thee(s).) For now though - celebrate with me: YAY!!!!! Physically I felt great. I was working hard - yes. I needed to get to push myself in a good way. It was wonderful to feel like my "pushing" was stretching and strengthening my body. (The last couple of "pushes" on the run have been what was required just to get me home!!) My ITB didn't bother me for a nanosecond: zero tightness, zero twinge. My left achilles was a bit tight starting out but after the first 1/2 mile was perfect. I was breathing hard/heavy. I got plenty of air but I did have to work for it. My iPod died about the time my achilles warmed up so I definitely noticed my loud breathing, but I felt so dang good. I did not want to slow down!! I kept waiting, wondering if any weird emotional stuff would come up again but the mad/sad/angries did not make an appearance. (I have some court crap to deal with today AND I'm 500 miles away on his 16th b'day from the son who made me a mommy so it would not have been freaky to have negative emotions surface!) But there you go. Life is weird. I had a smooth, controlled, JOYOUS run!

As I was getting ready for my run I noticed some folks setting up a bunch of gear - cameras, backdrops, props. I asked one of the fellas what they were doing and he told me it was a photo shoot for Valentine's day of some dogs! It was for PetSmart (maybe?). I got to meet the dogs and their people - which was very much fun! Then when I finished up my run I saw most of the gear was gone but two of the guys I'd talked to (photo assistants) were stuffing flowers in a trash can. PRETTY FLOWERS being THROWN AWAY!!! I gasped at the waste. I realize they have to clean up after themselves, but man!
They managed to rescue one rose for me. (The others were toast. Such a shame!) The one guy presented the single salvaged rose with a race announcer's voice. I may never win an actual race, but it sure was terrific to win a training run!

Too funny about the photo shoot. It might have been Petsmart. What's funny is there is a woman who used to work here (last day today actually) because her dog won the Petsmart contest and will be doing all their promotional stuff and commercials and now the dog is in the movies (a new Johnny Deppe movie for one) so watch for Toula the wonder dog. Good job on the run by the way. The weather does not always cooperate with our plans.

The weather has been great the past couple of days. Such a nice change from last week. What a great run and what a nice rose!

That second run is very nice. Good for you that you run the cool down, most important part of any workout. Difference between pain and no pain.

Oh...and that 208bpm...ouch!

Very cool! Too bad you couldn't get more flowers too. It's sad they throw them away!

Good job on that run! Good time and you felt good afterwards. NICE
