Three of Twenty-Four

Motivation: This week I was most inspired by the idea of racing. I'm enjoying training so I didn't need a whole lot of motivation, to tell the truth, but this week I got caught up in the excitement of signing up for races.

Tri-Tool/Gear Gratitude Focus:
On-line race registration ROCKS! How did people do triathlons before they had computers?

Obstacle Of The Week:
I don't know if it counts as a training obstacle, but I was hungry all week. Hunger is a pretty loaded issue for me (having been bulimic for five years - twenty years ago). In some ways, it's such a healthy thing to feel hunger that I'm grateful for it. Much of the time, I schedule food regardless of my less than reliable hunger mechanism. But being hungry has it's drawbacks! Thinking about food all the time feels like such a waste of time to me and I get worn out with it. I had plenty of fuel and felt great while working out, but I didn't make the best choices the whole time - particularly at the end of the week when John and I went out for our anniversary dinner. (I gained four pounds this weekend which I sincerely hope is mostly water from eating saltier/more processed foods than usual. Otherwise - YIKES!!)

Setting My Sights For The Upcoming Week
: I definitely will look for the hunger pains to disappear. Also this week is a recovery-ish week - light volume and a practice tri on Saturday. Our plan is to swim at the pool, use the parking lot as T-1, cycle a big loop around and meet John (and the car) downtown for T-2. We'll load up the bikes, slip into our kicks and run the Franklin 5000. It's exciting to think about a running race. I've only ever done one 5K before and that was in 1995. It helps to think of it as a training run with a side order of excitement, though. I don't want to get nervous about the racing part!

Celebration
: Woo hoo! An eighth of the way there? Yeah, ok, so that's a little lame. BUT it was a good solid training week, the weather is getting lighter and brighter, my sweet kiddos are in great spirits, my partners are amazing - Life is FANTASTIC! Woo hoo!
