Flashback for My Peeps

I dug out the pictures of my first (and as yet, only) half-marathon from two years ago. I've been thinking about that race - the Country Music Half Marathon - a lot this week since South Bay and Maryland Girl (and their pal Valley Girl) are all running it on Saturday. Thought I'd share. The first picture is of the whole "Team Tu-Tu" because it all started as a dare and the wearing of tu-tu's was a part of it (that I never fully understood.) I am on the left, Donna on the right.
This is a picture to show how many, many people there were! You can't quite see the corral fence but essentially the folks on the left are supporters and the ones on the right actual runners. (It was cold and rainy that morning so people are bundled up a bit.) The crowd energy was intense. So much cheering! I know SBG, MDG, and VG will have a BLAST!!

These last two are our finishing pictures. The first one is immediately after I crossed the line and the second is (obviously) after we got our medals. I have a medal! Me! It's the only one I have and I LOVE it. It is heavy and clanky just the way it should be to commemorate all those miles.
However, I'm ready for another one. San Francisco here we come!

How weird is that? You look just like my favourite Aunt! (You are the one with brown hair right?)

Not now of course, since shes got around 25 years head start at a guess, but as I remember her when she was young and funky and really, really good fun!

Her idea of punishing you for being naughty was to pin you down and tickle you until you begged to be forgiven!

Oh...and its a lovely piece of ironmongery you have there. I too only have one medal - I got it for nearly dying on a 3km run. Not nearly so impressive as your half marathon!

:D

Looks like a lot of fun. It's time to repeat it! San Francisco here you come. I'm still working on it but I would LOVE to be there with you guys. Keep up the good training and writing.

How FUN!!! Great pictures!

I'm sure you'll have a blast at San Fran. The course is very similar to the first part of the Nike Marathon I ran back in 2004, except in reverse (we started in GG park). Beautiful scenery and perfect running weather. Good luck in training for that as well!!
