I love that there is an Athena racing category. I think it's FANTASTIC. Maybe it's because I grew up with a grandfather who was a mythology professor, maybe it's from one too many inspiring trips to the Parthenon, or maybe it's just that it's a brilliant idea to use the goddess of justice and intelligence as a role model - but I am completely motivated by that label. I aspire to Athena status. (The weight requirement I've got down pat - it's the racing part that I haven't quite achieved yet!) Maybe if I were a guy, I'd be inspired by the idea of being a good Clydesdale, but I can't quite imagine it (no matter how much Budweiser I drink.) Athena, though, that's what I want to be!! I can do it too - if I keep having rides like today's that feel so great I only remember to stop pedaling because the alarm goes off. Yay for a great bike day (even with sore sit bones at the beginning)!

I cant imagine anyone wanting to be called a Clydesdale..Athena is such a nicer, prettier picture to paint!!! Good for you getting out in nasty weather! I've become a weather wimp since I moved to California from Tennessee....it's cold when it drops below 40 but I sure do love to run in the rain!!!
Keep up the awesome work! Maybe I'll come and cheer you and RBR at pacific grove in Sept!!!
Southbay Girl
WOW! There are criss crosses all over! Southbay Girl and Valley Girl are Nashvillians as well-Southbay Girl went to Hillsboro, Valley Girl Overton. Maryland Girl lives in Maryland right now, but all three of us went to Tennessee. Valley Girl moved out to LA, Southbay Girl moved out to LA-alas, Maryland Girl did not...boo hoo! She stayed on the east coast, and we decided Nashville would be the perfect place to meet up for a race. I'm still trying to get her out here!!
As for Velcro, she's my rockstar!!!
It's funny that you're from nashville and spent your summers here. It's really a small world!!! Trying to hook up NC...wait I think while in college Maryland Girl lived in NC....yes she did....but I'm digging deep now!!!
