I know I'm new to the athletic lifestyle and the endurance sports community - and I should probably hush up and wait until I understand more about how all this works...but I'm not gonna. I promised myself I'd jump in and do my best - in all parts of this new world. So my post today is a plea for you to go vote for ShirleyPerly, if you haven't already. You may know all about Evotri's contest, but in case you don't - here's my understanding. They are choosing a new team member. Evotri is looking for someone who already lives and promotes the endurance sports lifestyle and participates in the community. Making the Evotri team means some cool gear and professional coaching and probably other sponsorship stuff I don't understand.
This is the second contest this year. Shirley made it to the final rounds of the first with a fantastic video submission (look in the right sidebar of her blog to see it!) and I don't think it was public knowledge that there would be a second chance. I had just found Shirley's blog and didn't understand any of the contest stuff so I didn't even think of voting the first time around. In the past couple of weeks though, I've been following her site and reading her old posts. I love her message of inclusion and encouragement. Her story is personally compelling: she became an athlete at 40. I want her to win this contest not just because I want to be like her, but also because I think she'd be an incredible asset for what Evotri is doing. For her second contest submission - Shirley went to the earlier contestants (most of whom she hadn't met!) and got their permission to make one inspiring film from all of their video entries. She was gracious about not winning the first slot and now she's come up with a brilliant idea for a second try. Shirley has a gift for reaching out, encouraging others by words and example, and for building community. I'm sure the other contestants are fine people but I think ShirleyPerly takes the cake! Please vote.
**Oh and anyone can vote. You don't have to be a registered triathlete or anything. I asked.**

This my first time visiting your blog and I look forward to reading you more. I'm so impressed and excited by your goal of an olympic tri! I will be coming back often to cheer you on your way!
I voted for Shirley!! Love you, Mer-Bear. Tvoya Lizichka
OK I dislike the sun immensely! And I'd get up at the crack of dawn in the summers in nashville to beat the humidity....but I really don't like running in the sun because I'm Scottish. Mom is a Scot(she came over to this country when she was 21) and while growing up we spent every summer in Scotland where it's misty and cool, so that might be the reason I'm not a sun freak but love cool misty weather!!! I love RAIN and clouds!!! I know I'm a freak!

I voted for her too! I hope she makes it. She is a great ambassador for "adult onset athletes" as John Bingham calls us.
She has me thinking about that marathon in all 50 states thing. Kind of a cool idea, hmmm...
Hi there!
I think its amazing that you are shooting for an Olympic tri straight off the bat. Wow!
If only we all had your courage, determination and fitness!

Calyx, Thank you so much for your endorsement!! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to revisit your blog. That Evotri campaigning sucked up so much energy and time away from my blog reading. I've finally added you to my list of supporters (3/29 post) and I hope you don't mind me adding you to my Supastahs list too :-)
